From filmmaker Rebecca Autumn Sansom, and her biological mother, Jill Hawkins, Ph.D., comes Reckoning with The Primal Wound. This documentary is the first feature length documentary about Nancy Verrier’s landmark book, The Primal Wound. It’s also the first film to star Verrier herself. Reckoning with The Primal Wound is a film that not only deals with relinquishment trauma, but also Verrier’s philosophy that the damage done by the separation of a child and its biological mother culminates in a primal wound that must be acknowledged in order to heal. Reckoning with The Primal Wound will be shown at Circle Cinema, 10 S Lewis, Tulsa, OK, Sunday, May 15th 5-7pm. Live Q&A with the director, Rebecca Autumn Sansam, following the film. The University of Minnesota’s Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare named the film their #1 media resource for child welfare workers. The film has received many positive reviews and has been screened privately in the UK, Australia, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Canada and the US. The film has been accepted into 4 film festivals, Lift Off, Barcelona International, White Unicorn and Norwalk.
