Chop, slice, and dice your way to creating your own bowl of bibimbap with Chef Clara Park! Join us to learn how to “chop it up” safely and efficiently in the kitchen! Knife skills are life skills, and you’ll leave amazed at how much time and energy you can save in the kitchen by properly dicing and slicing your veggies. In celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, award-winning chef and culinary instructor Clara Park will lead us in making delicious Korean bibimbap. Participants will be given step-by-step guidance on proper techniques and then practice these new skills while creating their own veggie-packed rice bowls. This class is vegetarian friendly. Please notify us in advance with any dietary restrictions or allergies. All proceeds from ticket sales go towards supporting the Culinary Literacy's Center programs for youth, neighborhood engagement, and English language learning. **Please note our complimentary tickets are sold out at this time.** About the Presenter: Clara Park earned her BA in Psychology from the University of Chicago and her Master’s in Biology from Columbia University. She attended the Institute of Culinary Education in NYC and cooked in San Francisco, Napa Valley, Philadelphia, NYC and the Loire Valley, France. Park transitioned to food media and helped Barbara Kafka write The Intolerant Gourmet: Glorious Food without Gluten or Lactose. As a consultant, she developed recipes for Campbell’s Soup, Swanson, Tabasco, and Questlove of the Roots. Park returned to restaurants to become executive chef of Southgate, where her Korean BBQ bulgogi burger was named Best in Philly in 2016. Other career highlights include emerging victorious on the Food Network’s Chopped and eating live octopus with chefs Anthony Bourdain and Eric Ripert. Park is also passionate about teaching and has taught cooking classes at the Culinary Literary Center at the Free Library of Philadelphia, City Kitchen at the Reading Terminal Market and COOK Philly. Presently, she serves as head of the Chefs Council for CCAP (Careers in the Culinary Arts Program) Philly chapter.
