FRAMINGHAM, MA - Applications are now being accepted for seats on a variety of municipal boards and committees that have opened due to the establishment of new commissions, member resignations, and term expirations.
These open seats are an opportunity for residents to bring their perspectives and expertise toconversations that help determine the city's policies and programs. Especially encouraged are applicantswho are culturally, ethnically, linguistically and socioeconomically diverse.
"We are consciously working to make our three dozen municipal boards and commissions reflect the makeup of our community," said Mayor Charlie Sisitsky. "We can learn valuable insight from each other's experiences."
Two new committees were created last year by ratification of the City Council to focus on issues not currently addressed by the established boards and commissions. The mayor is looking to fill all seven seats for the new Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Trails Committee and all 11 seats on the Women, Children, and Families Committee.
Among the long-established entities with current vacancies are the Agricultural Advisory Committee, Cultural Council, Historic District Commission, Recodification and Ordinances Committee, Human Relations Commission, and Planning Board.
