The Western Stock Show Association d/b/a National Western Stock Show (WSSA/NWSS) is seeking a candidate in our Event Operations Department that will work as a team member within the Fleet Operations team to support achieving NWSS' Vision, Mission and Values. The candidate will assist the Manager of Fleet Operations in the repairs and maintenance of our equipment and vehicle fleet. Overview Under the direction of the Manager of Fleet Operations this position is responsible for preventive maintenance, repairs, and inspections on all WSSA/NWSS equipment and vehicles (everything from vacuums to heavy equipment to passenger busses). This is a safety-sensitive position subject to the rules and regulations of the NWSS Drug and Alcohol Policy, PUC, DOT, and OSHA regulations. About Us The National Western Stock Show, established in 1906, is the premier livestock, rodeo, and horse show in the nation, serving agricultural producers and consumers throughout the world. The National Western Stock Show, one of Colorado's preeminent tourist destinations, is held every January for 16 days. Roles & Responsibilities Provides excellent customer service to ensure a positive experience for all clients, patrons, and guests. Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies. Conducts detailed inspections. Removes, repairs, and replaces parts as necessary. Maintains and repairs heavy and light trucks, construction equipment, automobiles and similar equipment including passenger busses. Operates a variety of hand, power, and shop tools. Provides technical assistance to staff to help resolve problems encountered. Prepares and maintains basic records and reports; reads and interprets manuals, specifications, and drawings. Uses shop mathematics to make calculations as needed. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with those encountered in the course of the work. Practices safe work methods and adheres to safety regulations. Inspects, troubleshoots, diagnoses, repairs, cleans, adjusts, and installs fuel, ignition, electrical and cooling systems involving repair and replacement of such parts as carburetors, fuel pumps, spark plugs, starter motors, distributors, generators, voltage regulators, wiring switches, batteries, radiators, thermostats, water pumps, etc. Performs welding work on vehicles, equipment, and tools; fabricates, straightens, repairs, and installs metal parts for vehicles, equipment, tools, tanks, plates, grates, etc. Aids in the selection and scheduling of all seasonal bus drivers for both National Western Complex Events held throughout the year as well as for the National Western Stock Show held in January. Works independently and within a team environment, often adhering to tight deadlines. Required Skills & Abilities Understands and follows oral and written instructions. Able to multi-task and clearly communicate assignments. Must exercise independent judgment and initiative without close supervision and estimate necessary materials and equipment to complete assignments. Excellent customer service skills. Must have a flexible schedule, including working days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays hours up to 12-hour shifts. Hours of work may vary depending on shows. Must be at least 18 years of age or older to apply. Possess or obtain within 60 days a valid Colorado Driver's License with a clean and current MVR upon hire and a clean MVR on an annual basis. Preferred Experience/Qualifications Experience working with diesel engines and heavy equipment. Experience servicing passenger buses. Experience working in Microsoft-based software and ability to easily adapt to new programs. High School Diploma/GED. Welding/fabrication experience. Automotive Mechanic training. Possess or able to obtain a CDL class B with P2 endorsement. Physical Demands National Western Complex is a multi-purpose indoor and outdoor commercial and agricultural complex where dusty conditions and animals may exist. While performing with the duties of this job, work is performed both indoors and outside in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, wind, and rain, on varied surfaces. Our employees must be able to work indoors and outdoors with regular and prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures, must be comfortable working at heights and be able to work around moving machinery and equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items over 50 pounds. Pay Range & Benefits This is a non-exempt, hourly part time position which ranges from $19.00 - $20.00 per hour and offers sick time accrual benefits. Employees who meet Full-Time Equivalency (FTE) under the ACA Act are eligible to participate in the company's medical insurance and vision insurance plan. Eligibility occurs the first of the month after one year of FTE employment. Upon meeting plan qualifications, the WSSA/NWSS also offers a generous 401(k) retirement plan to its employees.
