COLUMBIA, MD — A grand jury has indicted a Sykesville man for negligent manslaughter in a fatal March collision that happened in Columbia. John Anthony Bryant, Jr., 26, also was indicted for vehicular homicide as a result of negligent driving while impaired by drugs and related traffic charges. He was arrested Nov. 17 and released on $20,000 bond.
At approximately 8:54 a.m. on March 13, a 2008 Pontiac G6 driven by Bryant was traveling southon Route 32 approaching Route 108 when it collided with a 2002 Toyota Camry, causing theCamry to leave the roadway and overturn. The driver and sole occupant of the Camry, 51-year-oldJonathan Bos of Dayton, was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center wherehe was later pronounced dead. Bryant was uninjured.
Howard County police determined that Bryant was the at-fault driver. Investigators also determined that Bryant was under the influence of cocaine at the time of the collision.
