Man Shot In Columbia Mall Parking Lot: Police

COLUMBIA, MD — A man was shot in the parking lot of The Mall in Columbia Friday night. Howard County police officers were called to the mall at approximately 10:30 p.m. for a report of a shooting that occurred in front of the Main Event entertainment venue. When officers arrived, they found Anthony Patterson, 20, of Owings Mills, dead. Officers spoke with witnesses, some who reported hearing multiple gunshots at the scene. Police believe Patterson and the suspect had argued before the shooting. It appears Patterson did not know the suspect, according to police officers. Police confirmed that no one else was injured. Detectives believe the suspect quickly fled the scene and there was no ongoing threat to people in the area at the time of the shooting. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information in the case and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 410-313-STOP or [email protected].
