Press release from the City of Austin: April 1, 2022 UPDATE: The Austin Police Department (APD) is requesting community assistance locating a vehicle involved in a traffic fatality on February 27, 2022. The vehicle was captured on multiple video systems. It's described as a white 4 door sedan, possibly a Hyundai, with no license plates on the front of the vehicle (it may have paper tags). The vehicle has damage to the front right side of the vehicle. The vehicle left the scene. The victim was transported to the hospital and was pronounced deceased by Dr. Eugene on March 8, 2022, at 1:17 p.m. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the Highway Investigation Tip Line at 512-974-8111, utilize the Crime Stoppers tip line at 512-472-8477 (TIPS), or the Crime Stoppers app. You may remain anonymous. This crash is being investigated as Austin's 16th fatal crash of 2022, resulting in 17 fatalities for the year. On the date of this crash in 2021, there were 19 fatal crashes resulting in 21 fatalities. These statements are from the initial assessment of the fatal crash and investigation is still pending.
