Press release from the Urbandale Community School District: April 1, 2022 BY ORDER OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE URBANDALE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT: NOTICE OF SCHOOL BOARD VACANCY TO BE FILLED BY APPOINTMENT Due to the recent resignation of an elected official, a vacancy exists on the Board of Directors of Urbandale Community School District (District). The Board of Directors is following the procedures prescribed by Iowa law to appoint a citizen to fill this vacancy. The person selected by the Board of Directors to fill this vacancy will serve until the next regular election to take place November 2023, or a special intervening election between now and November 2023, at which time a new member will be elected through the voting process. The person selected to fill this vacancy may run as an incumbent at the next election. What is the Board of Directors? The Board of Directors of the Urbandale Community School District consists of seven, at-large elected officials that are all residents of the district. These seven members of the Board of Directors are part of a team that develop policies to help the school district focus on student achievement and comply with state and federal laws. Board Director Eligibility: To be eligible for appointment, the candidate (1) must live in the Urbandale Community School District; (2) be 18 years of age or older; and (3) must not be an employee of the District.
