Press release from the City of Hammond: March 31, 2022 Department: Engineering/Maintenance Division Job Title: Custodian Date Requested: March 30, 2022 Date Needed: ASAP Salary: $12.50 per hour (part-time)6:00am to 10:00amfive days per week Job Requirements: Ability to use simple hand tools including broom, mop, buffer, duster, fan cleaner and vacuum cleaner to effectively complete assigned tasks Knowledge of cleaning products and their uses Knowledge of proper blood born pathogens prevention procedures Job Duties: Empties trash and paper containers Vacuums carpets Sweeps, mops and waxes floors Dusts all furniture Cleans and disinfects toilets and sinks in rest rooms Maintains assigned areas in a clean and orderly manner Cleans and washes walls Cleans windows and other glass Polishes brass Performs other tasks as requested by Engineering/Maintenance Department Responsibilities: Custodian receives general instructions and work assignments from the Maintenance Supervisor at the time of hire and additional instruction as the need arises Works with little or no supervision Work will be reviewed by the supervisor or appointed representative Work consists of simple to moderate tasks Physical Effort: Custodian may be required to climb ladders and lift objects of up to thirty (30) lbs., work is light to moderate cleaning. Work Environment: Work is performed in a standard office building environment and may require some outside work. Hiring will be done in accordance with Hammond City Ordinance #8620 as it pertains to the residency requirement.Job will be posted internally from March 30, 2022, until April 5, 2022.
