Description

WOODRIDGE, IL — The Woodridge Police Department will be on the lookout for distracted drivers throughout the month of April as part of a statewide campaign for Distracted Driving Awareness Month. Over 200 law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois are increasing enforcement for the safety initiative. Drivers will notice enforcement zones and increased patrols throughout Naperville and officers will be issuing tickets to drivers who are spotted on their cellphones or texting while they drive. "Texting while driving puts everyone on the road at risk by distracting a driver visually, manuallyand cognitively," Deputy Chief Tom Stefanson said in a news release. He added, "During Distracted Driving Awareness Month, we're working to increase awareness of these dangers and encourage all motorists to give driving their full attention."
