CONCORD, NH — A man from Franklin was arrested after being accused of speeding while impaired, striking guardrails, crashing his car, and possessing drugs on Saturday in Canterbury.
Around 7 p.m., New Hampshire State Police received reports of a Subaru driving erratically on Interstate 93 north.
"Witnesses reported that the vehicle was speeding and striking guardrails," said Sgt. Irwin Malilay of Troop D. "Shortly after the initial report, the vehicle drove off the roadway and crashed in the area of Mile Marker 48.6, coming to a stop behind the guardrail in the median."
Troopers arrived and spoke to the driver, Jeffrey Scott Rudik, 22, of Franklin, who was uninjured.
After speaking with Rudik, "it was determined (he) was impaired at the time," Malilay said and was arrested on driving under the influence and felony possession of a controlled substance charges.
To remove the vehicle, the left lane of I-93 had to be shuttered for about two hours. Boscawen police and the New England Truck Center assisted the state police.
Rudik will be arraigned in Merrimack County Superior Court on April 22.
