JOLIET, IL — For the second time last week, Joliet officers made a felony drunken driving arrest after finding someone asleep at a busy intersection on Ruby Street, police announced. The most recent arrest happened around 6 a.m. Thursday. Joliet police saw one open alcohol container in Alvarez's vehicle and Alvarez showed signs of being impaired by alcohol impairment, telling police he had been drinking alcohol, English said. Officers also determined that Alvarez had a suspended driver's license. A resident of the 800 block of Sherman Street, Alvarez was released from detention on Friday night after posting 10 percent of his $15,000 bail, logs show. Last week, Joliet Patch reported that 30-year-old Juan Arreola, who lives in the 700 block of Garnsey Avenue, was booked into the Will County Jail on felony DUI charges after Joliet police say Arreola fell asleep behind the steering wheel of his car at the traffic light for Ruby and Broadway Streets on the night of March 28. Arreola is charged with aggravated DUI, DUI, aggravated driving while license suspended and transportation of open alcohol by a driver.
