Press release from the Mecklenburg County Government: 3/28/2022 Description1 The Time Is Right for Social Work. That is the theme of Social Work Month this March. Mecklenburg County is recognizing the contributions of our social workers and encouraging others to join us in making our community a better place. Mecklenburg County welcomes candidates from across educational backgrounds who can offer a wide variety of experiences in serving our clients. The County is especially seeking fluent Spanish-language candidates who are comfortable working across cultures. Social workers touch thousands of lives across Mecklenburg County every day, strengthening families and the community through a safety-net of services, collaborations, and hope. Social workers: Look after the safety and welfare of our children. Help find children a loving foster or forever home. Ensure residents have enough nutritious food to eat. Offer financial assistance to homes with limited income and resources. Provide care, support, transportation, medical assistance and more for adults of all ages. Aid domestic violence victims in getting the help they need. Support the homeless in finding permanent housing. And much more. For someone whose passion is working with people and families to help them to be successful and feel supported, there is no better place to work than Mecklenburg County. The County employs more than 250 child welfare specialists, and hundreds more social workers and eligibility specialists across a variety of departments.
