Description

Franklin's Home Animal Rescue is a locally based rescue in Knoxville, Tennessee, and is east TN's first, two in one rescue! We are an exotic and small pet rescue, plus a German Shepherd rescue, and Sanctuary. However, so long as resources allow, we do accept pets of all species and breeds. Franklin's Home has been open and functioning as a small scale rescue since March of 2020, and since then we have found homes for nearly 200 pets! In January of 2022, we decided we were ready to become a full scale public rescue, so here we are! Our rescue mission is to help the world's most forgotten and misunderstood pets. This includes the pets most commonly "thrown away": reptiles, birds, cats, small furry pets, and one of the most commonly abandoned pets in our area: German Shepherds. Not only is there a need for this in this area, these types of pets are very close to our hearts. We accept reptiles, birds, small mammals, cats, rabbits, and german shepherd dogs. Our founder, Haylee, has been volunteering in the animal rescue world for 10+ years and has been highly involved as a foster, rescuer, volunteer, and board member for the past five years. Franklin's Home was inspired after this precious angel (pictured), Franklin. Our founder rescued Franklin in early 2020 from an extremely neglectful, abusive situation and immediately knew how special this baby was. Franklin did not let his past define him, he quickly learned to trust humans once again! Frank is an extremely special pup who loved showing everyone that reactive dogs are not bad dogs, just misunderstood. Unfortunately, at the end of a lifelong medical battle, our sweet Franklin passed away this past December. This was two days after Christmas, and one month after his 2nd birthday was celebrated. With this, our founder decided it was time to dedicate our rescue to this sweet angel early this year. We are currently working on adding fosters to our current foster family, and are accepting owner surrenders. Find us on Facebook at Franklin's Home Animal Rescue
