Description
WATSONVILLE, CA — The Watsonville Public Works Department has received a grant to create a plan to combat the effects of climate change by bolstering flood protection along the Pajaro River and increasing the resilience of the local water supply.
The city also seeks to improve public health and sequester carbon, according to the Bay Area Council, which awarded the grant as part of its $2 million California Resilience Grants program.
Watsonville was one of 12 recipients, selected from a pool of 80 proposals with a total of $15 million in requests, Bay Area Council said in a news release.
The city invites the public to participate in its Climate Action and Adaptation Plan, which seeks to lay a framework to help Watsonville mitigate challenges posed by climate change over the next decade.
