CALIFORNIA — Voters in the Central Coast and South Bay are deciding who should represent California's 30th Assembly District, which stretches from Morgan Hill to the southern end of Monterey County and includes cities such as Gilroy, Watsonville, Salinas and Hollister.
Incumbent and Democrat Robert Rivas is squaring off against Republican Gregory Swett, a walnut grower and Willow Grove Elementary School board president. Rivas received 69 percent of the vote in March, while Swett garnered 31 percent.

There are 171,000 registered voters in Santa Cruz County, including some 101,000 Democrats, 37,000 nonpartisans and 24,000 Republicans.
