WATSONVILLE, CA — Watsonville police believe three shootings that occurred over the weekend were not related, though two appear to be linked to gang activity. The shootings transpired over a five-hour period beginning Saturday evening. A 44-year-old man was shot and killed at about 5:30 p.m. at East Front and Marchant streets in an apparently gang-related shooting, police said. At about 9:30 p.m. police got word of a shooting on Main Street at Pennsylvania Drive. A 26-year-old man was shot there and died later at a hospital. It's unclear if this shooting is gang-related, police said. Shortly before midnight, police responded to another shooting on Blackbird Circle, but could not find a victim. They later learned a 24-year-old man had been shot and flown to an out-of-county trauma center, where he remains in critical condition. This shooting is believed to be gang-related, police said. Anyone with information about the shootings is asked to call the Watsonville Police Department Investigations Division at 831-768-3350 or leave an anonymous message at 831-768-3544. Bay City News contributed to this report. Correction: A previous version of this story included incorrect information about the time of the third shooting.
