Maple Landscape and Design is a Brooklyn based company transforming outdoor spaces into unique gardens with an emphasis on native planting and sustainable practices. Compensation: $18-$23 per hour, Salary based on experience We are looking for free-lance gardeners for the months of April and May to assist with our various garden installation projects. This position would be suitable for free-lancers, gig workers and students with flexible hours who are interested in picking up a few shifts and learn about gardening. Candidates must have flexible hours and enjoy working outside. Opportunities for growth based on performance. Responsibilities • Assist in the planting of trees, shrubs, perennials, and groundcovers under supervision • Prepare garden beds for planting with digging, soil amendment and transplanting • Laying down simple pavers, edging and light hardscaping work • Perform maintenance tasks such as weeding, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, and sweeping • Accompany on nursery runs and help with loading, unloading, and driving vans as needed • Keep records of visits and alert supervisor of issues with plants and garden Qualifications/ Requirements • Flexible schedules and ability to commit for April and May • Some gardening experience with ability to identify plants and diseases preferred • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions • Comfortable with using garden hand tools and some basic power tools • Ability to lift 50lbs and perform physical labor • Valid driver’s license preferred • Interest in learning about gardening and landscaping industry Please submit your resume with introduction and why you are interested in this position.
