Description
Have you experienced the loss of a spouse or a parent in the past one to three years?
If you answered yes, you may be eligible to participate in a research study that examines
experiences associated with the loss of a loved one such as grief, yearning, and longing, and how
they may be linked to neurobiological signals in the brain. This study is being conducted at NYU
Langone Health (IRB Study #: s21-01649).
We are looking for adults aged 40-65 years who have experienced the loss of a spouse or parent
in the past 1 to 3 years. The purpose of this study is to examine how emotional responses to the
death of a spouse or partner are reflected in brain regions as measured through neuroimaging.
This study involves a total of 2 visits to our facilities at NYU spread over 2-5 weeks. After the
initial screening appointment, participants will undergo an experimental tasks visit in a
functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scanner.
Eligible participants will receive compensation for their time. Study participation is free of
charge.
