WALNUT CREEK, CA — The Contra Costa County coroner's office said Thursday that it is not ready to release the names of the three people killed in a fiery crash Tuesday night in Walnut Creek, but their ages have been disclosed. The victims were two 18-year-old women and a 47-year-old man.
One of the women was at the wheel during the crash, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP crash investigators determined that the car was going too fast when it exited I-680 at the North Main Street off-ramp, veered off the road, crashed into a tree and caught fire. All 3 victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash happened around 10:40 p.m.
If you have any information about the case, call the CHP's Contra Costa office at 925-646-4980.
