Its mission and vision “Bridge and Blend - A Scent World That Creates A Better Society” provides scent touch points that enrich sensitivity and creativity by connecting diverse cultures and creating new value. In 2008, she discovered olfactory fascinating and she wanted to share this powerful sense of ours with the rest of the world by working in the fragrance industry. Freelancing, contracting, part-time in New York until having landed a position at the fragrance house Givaudan in Singapore. As for incense, her first encounter was at her mother’s passing in 2015. She noticed the scent that the monk burned during his chant for her mother was different every time. Starting her research on incense and discovering that we can create our own incense. Flying from Singapore where she was living at that time to Japan to join a workshop. She wanted to share it with the rest of the world. Thus I started the “Creative Incense workshop” in 2015. This workshop has been offered in Singapore, New York, Los Angeles and Tokyo so far. In 2018 when Hiro returned to Japan after living overseas for 15+ years, a question “what is the Japanese scent?” troubled her. A journey in search of the SCENT of JAPAN has begun! “Six in Sense” is truly a re-discovery of the SCENT of JAPAN - bridging tradition and modern by blending 1000 years’ gap - The project idea came when she was re-reading the Tale of Genji,, which is a classic work of Japanese literature written in the early 11th century by the noblewoman and lady-in-waiting Murasaki Shikibu. And she discovered incense appeared in the book is probably the oldest scent formulation in the record. At the time, Hiro couldn’t help but wonder what it smelled like 1000 years ago. Project Felicia launched this incense project under the brand Bridge and Blend as a Kickstarter campaign on Incense Day (April 18) in 2021, fully funded within 2 days and recognized as Project We Love in 2 hours of the launch. In Fall, MUSE in New York City started carrying us. She hopes that the status of incense as a home fragrance will be established in today's society, just like incense 1000 years ago in Japan when it was often used as a home fragrance to scent the living space. Currently Hiro is based in Tokyo, working full time for the IT industry while running Project Felicia and writing for Beyond Magazine targeting the Millennials and Gen Z.
