Book presentation Join author and entrepreneur Riccardo Illy in conversation with PBS host and executive producer Kathy McCabe on the occasion of the release of his new book THE ART OF EXCELLENT PRODUCTS: Enchanting Customers with Premium Brand Experiences. This event is organized by the Italian Cultural Institute of San Francisco in collaboration with the Italian Consulate General of San Francisco. RICCARDO ILLY joined the family company, illycaffè S.p.A. in 1977 and focused on the reorganization of its commercial structure. During the second half of the 1980s, he became the company’s sales director and chose to reassert the uniqueness of the blend, returning to producing a single blend. In those same years, he reestablished Sales Organization network in Italy as well as abroad. He also developed marketing and communication activities and redesigned the business logo. He extended product sales to the alimentary and workplace channels. Subsequently, he became international sales director and re-organized the structure of the subsidiary companies. In 1992, he became managing director and in 1995, vice-president. Riccardo Illy is also a journalist and author of the booka Dal Caffè all’Espresso (From Coffeebeans to Espresso), published by Mondadori and translated in English, French and German, La rana cinese (The Chinese Frog), Come l'Italia può tornare a crescere and Così perdiamo il Nord (So we Lose the North). KATHY MCCABE is the host and executive producer of the hit PBS TV travel series Dream of Italy. She is the founder of the award-winning membership website and magazine Dream of Italy, celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2022. In 2021 Kathy released her first book Dream of Italy: Travel, Transform and Thrive, a companion to her PBS special exploring how the healthier and happier Italian lifestyle can help us all transform and live our own dream of Italy.
