BOWIE, MD — The Bowie Baysox Baseball Club, the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, is hosting a MEGA Drive-Thru Chicken Truckload Sale that will benefit three local food banks and pantries. "During this time, our staff is looking at ways to affect the community in a positive way, and —with the shortages of meat in the area — we wanted to help," said Baysox General Manager Brian Shallcross, in a release. "In partnership with Mountaire Farms, we are excited to offer this discounted opportunity for the members of our community to stock up on delicious chicken at a great price." Customers may purchase 40-pound cases of bone-in leg quarters for $22 each or 40-pound cases of frozen boneless chicken breasts for $54 each. These items will only be available for pre-order through June 9 on the Baysox's website. Purchases will be available for pickup on Saturday, June 13, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Orders must be placed by 5 p.m. on June 9. The drive-thru pickups will be handled in a no-contact manner. Wearing masks and gloves, Baysox staff members will place orders in the trunk of each customer's vehicle. Customers may choose to donate their purchases to the Capital Area Food Bank, Anne Arundel County Food Bank, or the Bowie Interfaith Food Bank. The Baysox will arrange for the items to be delivered to the food banks.
