ALL STUDENTS AND STAFF ARE WELCOME TO JOIN! Learn more about why Lauren is running the Boston Marathon for Boston Children's: In November of 2013, Lauren Ladue was an average eighth-grader until she was faced with a rare kidney disease and was rushed to Boston Children’s Hospital. Through her treatments, she was bullied due to extensive swelling, which also frequently sidelined her from fully participating in athletics. After several forms of harmful treatments, she reached remission for the second time in December of 2016. Shortly after, she was diagnosed with a heart disease in June of 2017. Filled with doubt about continuing the sport she loved into her collegiate career, Ladue did not allow her diagnosis to define her. This instead propelled her to work harder through her four years as a member of the Stonehill Varsity Field Hockey program while teaching her some of the most valuable life lessons. She takes the quote “going in one more round when you don’t think you can make all the difference in your life” from Rocky IV to heart, to remind her to take it one day at a time, to never give up, and to trust the process. Ladue graduates from Stonehill College in May 2022 with a Bachelor’s in Marketing with a minor in Biochemistry.
