PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, several holiday traditions are still scheduled in Prince George's County. This means several places will still host Christmas tree lightings. From now until Jan. 5, Prince Georgians can enjoy a 56-foot tree and its 2 million twinkling lights at the National Harbor. The show will run every half from from 5:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, artificial snow will fall over the tree. The Christmas tree sits on National plaza, located at 165 Waterfront Street Oxon Hill, MD 20745. More inforation is available here. Bowie also has its own Christmas tree. The city website says the annual tree lighting is still scheduled for Sunday Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. The Bowie Volunteer Fire Department sponsors the event each year, bringing Santa and Mrs. Claus to visit children and sing holiday songs. The lighting always takes place at Bowie City Hall, located at 15901 Excalibur Road. For more information, contact Special Events Manager Matt Corley at (301) 809-3078 or [email protected]. To see if your town has its own tree lighting, check your community's events calendar. Patch cannot guarantee that these events will continue as scheduled. We suggest checking with the venues to confirm event details before your planned visit.
