On Monday, March 28, 2022, at 11:49 a.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) responded to reports of a fire in an apartment complex at 2200 Westbend Parkway on the Westbank of New Orleans. The first company arrived on the scene at 11:54 a.m. and found heavy fire engulfing much of building 2110 Apt. A-N. A second alarm was immediately called for at 11:59 a.m. due to the size of the building and the number of units it encompassed. Firefighters immediately began conducting a primary search of the building and removing all residents. After clearing the building crews began to aggressively attack the fire to stop it from spreading further. A third alarm was called for by the incident commander at 12.53 p.m. primarily to be able to relive fire personnel working on the scene.
Twenty-seven NOFD units carrying fifty-eight Fire Operations personnel were deployed to the scene of this fire. One resident and one dog were treated for smoke inhalation on the scene and released. No firefighter injuries have been reported. The New Orleans Emergency Medical Services, Entergy New Orleans, New Orleans Police Department as well as Entergy New Orleans assisted in the mitigation of this incident. The fire was placed under control at 1:45 p.m. An investigator responded and will begin to process the scene.
