UNION CITY, CA — Alameda County has distributed $900,000 to 157 Alameda County nonprofit arts and cultural organizations through its Arts Relief Grant Program, including in Fremont and Newark. There were no awards in Union City. The CARES Act-funded grant program was established to help organizations affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. "The County recognizes that arts and cultural organizations are an essential part of our community and an instrumental aspect of our economic recovery," said Melissa Wilk, Alameda County Auditor-Controller. The grants range in size from $3,150 to $15,750. All qualifying applicants received an award. The size of each grant was based on the organization's operating budget.
