Deadly Freeway Crash In Union City

UNION CITY, CA — A young man who died in a solo-vehicle crash early Friday in Union City was identified as Marco Antonio Gonzalez Peregrina, 22, of Hayward, according to the Alameda County coroner. CHP officers got a call at 12:31 a.m. about a car blocking the far left lane on southbound Interstate Highway 880 south of Alvarado-Niles Road, CHP Officer Dustin Kennerley said. When officers arrived, they found a vehicle that had crashed into the center divider. Peregrina was pronounced dead there, Kennerley said. He said CHP officers don't know what caused the crash.
