LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Surfers, skimboarders and photographers alike don't wait for a clear and sunny day to go out and do what they do best. In fact, stormy conditions generally make for wonderful photographs and excellent surf.
Susana Cruciana Photo Laguna Beach resident photographer Susana Cruciana captured the picturesque Thousand Steps Beach Thursday, the stormy grays and saltwater blues of the sky painting a perfect picture of the popular surf spot on a brisk day.
"Gray skies create a unique ambiance." Cruciana told Patch.
Susana Cruciana Photo Thousand Steps Beach, a popular site for residents and tourists alike, is named for its steep and recently-repaired beach access stairwell.
While the stairwell is less than 1,000 steps — it's more like 218 — it's universally agreed that the trip down the stairs and to the beach is far more pleasant than the trek back up to Pacific Coast Highway.
