Press release from the City of Stow: April 1, 2022 Dear Stow Residents, "Spring has sprung and upgrades and improvements are in full force for our community! Take a look around at all of the progress on projects that are underway! With the help of city leadership and workforce, we are executing numerous projects that will improve the lives of residents. This extensive list of projects and initiatives is going to keep us very busy, but the upshot is that our residents will have a greater quality of life because of them. Improved streets, upgraded sidewalks, storm water system enhancements, upgrades to Leona Farris Lodge and Fox Den Golf Course, playground replacements at Sherwood Acres Park, Northport Park, and Stow City Center to name a few. Yes, that's right! As I previously announced, and you may have heard, SKiP Playground is COMING SOON! Summer 2022! I am so thrilled to share with you that my administration and I have raised all the funds necessary to undertake the rebuild of SKiP Playground! This is Phase 1 of the Stow City Center Project, a development plan that will create a community gathering space including SKiP Playground and adjacent property, creating an abundance of fun and easily accessible opportunities for families and children. Groundbreaking is expected to take place this spring, with the installation of playground components this summer! We are also planning exciting community events! Celebrate our City during Celebrate Stow Week, June 25 through July 4. You won't want to miss Fun in Stow Play Day on June 25 at Stow City Center. Stay tuned for a full array of events, including our traditional Stow Fourth of July Parade and Firecracker Run! How exciting is that? We are also bringing forward two NEW event series; our Concerts on the Green, and our Neighborhood Pop-up Parties. Two other major projects on the horizon this year are our Parks and Recreation Master Plan and our Connecting Communities Trail Planning Grant. The master plan project will be wrapping up in May, so stay tuned for the results of this in-depth assessment of all parks and recreational facilities and programs. The process has included many avenues for community engagement, with a community survey completed earlier this year. Our residents seized the opportunity and came out in full force to be heard! Your input will help shape the future of parks and recreation in our community! The Trails Planning Grant will result in establishing a framework for a citywide, multi-modal trail network to accommodate all users. This network will not only serve Stow's various populations, businesses and visitors, but will connect the city to adjacent and regional destinations and multi-modal networks. The Stow study explores the potential of shared-use paths and side paths as the primary facilities for the city's trail network. The study will also determine the viability of placing trails within one-quarter mile of every resident and business. 2022 is off to a great start! I continue to be very optimistic about Stow's future and our long-term success. I pledge to continue my accessibility to our residents and businesses. Your ideas, input, and feedback are so very beneficial in understanding the concerns of our community. I have the best interest of Stow at heart and I hope you do as well." Sincerely, John Pribonic Mayor, City of Stow This press release was produced by the City of Stow. The views expressed here are the author's own.
