UNION CITY, CA — Alvarado-Niles Road in Union City was closed for several hours Thursday evening as police investigated a shooting. The road was closed in both directions between Hop Ranch Road and Dowe Avenue. There are few details, but police have confirmed that a shooting took place at approximately 5:45 p.m. The shooting victim, an adult male, was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police have not released any information about a suspect or suspects.
