Dorky non-metalhead dad looking to start an actual metal band for fun

Description

I am a regular, boring-ass, married, early 40s, suburban dude. While I may be a corporate-job-having family man, I do play bass in a few bands. I have only in the last few years discovered that I kinda like metal more than I ever thought I would. I am by no means a metalhead. Trust me, I'm super uncool. But I find myself listening to black metal (my particular metal poison of choice) and a few other subgenres when I'm doing super dorky, uncool things like working on my family budget or looking at bass gear online. (Also on road trips where my wife and child are not present.) I even went to a metal show by myself a few years ago - if you were at the Uada show at Slowdown (I think in 2019), I was there! It was the most chill and fun show I've been to in a while with the most chill and polite audience (metalheads are unfairly portrayed in the media.) I am a pretty ok bass player but speed is not really my thing. I am not great at crazy fast galloping lines or anything like that. That being said, I can hold my own and enjoy coming up with cool riffs, etc. Though I'm not a stoner, stoner metal/groove metal, shit like that is something I'd be into. Stuff I like in general: the old school favorites (Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, early Metallica, White Zombie, Death, etc.), the standard Norwegian black metal classics (Mayhem, Burzum, Emperor, Darkthrone, etc.), plus Ghost, Bathory, Uada, Agalloch, Orange Goblin, The Sword, Gojira, Dimmu Borgir, Nightwish, Graveyard, In Flames, anything Steve DiGiorgio plays bass in, etc. I used to listen to some Iced Earth in college but Jon Schaffer being an insurrectionist piece of shit turns me off big-time. In any case, don't try to quiz me - I don't really know a lot about this stuff, but I enjoy it when it comes on a random YouTube music playlist. Still reading after all those reasons for you to NOT start a metal band with me? Cool, let me throw a few more detractors your way: 1. I'm busy and would only want to rehearse like once a month at most 2. I'd like the band to be not-too-serious and I would love to call it "Goat Pupils." Have you ever seen a picture of a goat's eyes? They are the creepiest shit ever. There's a reason goats are associated with Satan, right? 3. I live in a house but am moving to an apartment so that takes away my practice space. So hopefully there's a drummer reading this with a decent practice space and a tolerant family/neighbors. Anyway, I joke a lot but I actually do enjoy heavy music and think it would be fun to play in a not-so-serious manner to let off some steam. Like I said, I'm busy with about 2.5 other bands BUT I do take music seriously and prefer that anything I do be musically tight and well-rehearsed (even if rehearsals are infrequent, home practice makes a big difference.) I'm sure I'll get zero responses and that's fine. \m/ \m/
