HCPS Superintendent Responds To Delegation On Virtual Learning

BEL AIR, MD — As lawmakers prepared to hold a news conference Thursday morning advocating for schools to open for in-person learning, Harford County Public Schools Superintendent Sean Bulson issued a statement indicating 5 percent of students will be attending the Learning Support Centers. These centers will be at 41 school buildings around the county to provide a safe place for learning with internet access and Harford County Public Schools staff to support students. "HCPS' Learning Support Centers are the first step to returning students to school buildings," Bulson said. "We remain absolutely committed to the quality of our students' education and their safety. Weshare your interest in returning our students to schools for in-person learning as soon as possible, and we are committed to updating our Continuity of Learning Plan to reflect how that will occur," Bulson said, stating: "We will share those updates with the community soon." Since Gov. Larry Hogan announced the state would enter stage three of its reopening Friday, Bulson said it was unclear what that meant for schools. "At this time, we have no guidance from the Administration that addresses how the move to Stage 3 will affect schools," Bulson wrote Thursday. "We would appreciate your support in advocating at the state level for such guidance."
