1.5 year old male syrian hamster with special needs in need of a temporary foster by June 2022! Currently being cared for in NW Raleigh, Timber was acquired from Craigslist in May 2021. Timber is a semi-social syrian hamster that tends to sleep during the day and be active at night. Timber enjoys digging burrows in very deep bedding, running on his wheel, and poking his ears out to say "hi!" every now and then. Timber does not have any front teeth and requires a home-made diet and occasional pain medication when his activity level or weight decreases. As far as we're aware, Timber is not brachycephalic nor hydrocephalic and we are unsure as to why he lost his teeth so young (prior to his 1st birthday). Timber has undergone veterinary care. His weight is stable on his current diet. Timber's current placement is successful but temporarily unstable. We are seeking a new foster for the purpose of permanent reunification with his current caretaker when their situation stabilizes. All of Timber's food, medication, veterinary needs, and bedding will be paid for by his current caretaker until reunification. He will come with his own enclosure including his wheel, sand bath, water bottle, feeding dishes, food scale, and freezing tray for his home-made diet. Interested persons need only to demonstrate the ability and commitment to maintain an appropriate enclosure and maintain his diet in order to foster Timber. Timber is a SOLITARY animal and cannot be housed with other hamsters in the same cage.
