Truly Diagnostic Perio Charting - 2 CEU Course Description Join us for a second session of our study club designed to improve a hygienist’s diagnostic and treatment planning skills. Even if you missed our first event, we are sure you will enjoy this month's topic! Last month we focused on diagnostic x-rays. This month after a radiographic review we will take a fresh look at perio charting. Comprehensive perio charting is a foundational element of dental hygiene school, but is rarely re-visited after graduation. We will refresh our techniques and share real world tips and tricks to improve our assessment of periodontal disease. This course will help you to become your patient's MVP, improve the level of care you provide, and bring success to your practice. A deep dive into the fundamentals of perio charting, so often considered tedious, is designed to help you emerge feeling excited and confident. "THE BEST! Identify and overcome common barriers to comprehensive perio charting.Compare different styles of periodontal probes.Review perio charting techniques including bleeding, pocket depths, furcations, recession, mucogingival involvement and mobility.Use takeaway strategies to improve perio charting speed and accuracy. She completed her dental hygiene education at Portland Community College and has worked in both the General Dentistry and Periodontal settings. She honed her understanding of periodontal disease and advanced instrumentation through AAP and other continuing education seminars. She is laser certified, proficient in diode laser and has worked in offices using Nd Yag and Waterlase. She is trained in Perioscopy and was on the Board of Directors for the Oregon Dental Hygienist Association. She is currently the Lead Dental Hygienist for Drew Family Dentistry in Bend, Oregon and after 25 years’ time is happy to report that she still loves what she does! She has practiced as a full-time dental hygienist in Seattle, Portland, and for the past 7 years in Bend. Throughout her career, Cassandra has developed advanced periodontal treatment skills by following treatment outcomes of her patients, attending advanced instrumentation courses, becoming laser certified, collaborating with other advanced hygienists, and helping several offices develop their periodontal disease protocols. She enjoys teaching colleagues and patients about what she has learned. Cassandra works for Mill Point Dental Center in Bend, Oregon. She enjoys cooking, cycling, hiking, cross country skiing, and spending time with family.
