Join Future Harvest, Whitelock Community Farm, University of Maryland Extension-Baltimore City and Chesapeake Harvest for an interactive field day designed to teach participants all about post harvest handling, the Produce Safety rule and GAP Certification for Urban Farms. Having the right infrastructure to harvest, wash and pack your produce is critical for running a succesful urban farm. Learn how Whitelock Community Farm harvests and distributes their produce while compling with food safety regulations. This is a hands on BFTP field day. There are 20 tickets available. About Whitelock Community Farm began in 2010 when Reservoir Hill residents converted a vacant lot into an active urban farm with the help of hundreds of volunteers. The continued support of neighbors and the wider community has spirited their vision to improve access to healthy food. The farm grows 30 varities of vegetables and fruits which are distirbuted through a farm stand, mobile market and local farmers markets. Farm Manager Kimberly Raikes is a produce safety expert with years of experience working in urban farming.
