If a player wins a round in the Winners Bracket, they will move on to the next round in the Winners Bracket. If a player loses a round in the Winners Bracket, they will still be in the tournament, but will be placed in the Losers Bracket. • If a player wins a round in the Losers Bracket, they will be safe from elimination and move on to the next round in the Losers Bracket. If a player loses a round in the Losers Bracket, they are officially eliminated from the tournament. • Towards the end of the tournament, there will be a Losers Finals and a Grand Finals. The player that wins the Losers Finals will be placed back in the Winners Bracket and will participate in the Grand Finals against the winner of the Winners Semifinals. • The player that wins the Grand Finals is declared the Club EMU Smash-Up Champion and wins the Grand Prize. Before a Match • The tournament brackets will be kept track of on [Insert Bracket Website Here]. • Pay attention to where you are in the brackets, so you know when your turn is about to come up. When it’s your turn to play, your name will be called to proceed to an open station. • Once your name is called, you will be given a maximum of 2 minutes to show up. If you fail to show up in that time frame, you will be disqualified from the tournament. • If one player shows up but the other doesn’t within the time frame, the player who did show up in time will receive a bypass into the next round. During a Match • There are 4 stations for the Smash Melee Tournament. Each round there will be 2 players per station in a 1v1 match. • A standard round will be best 2 out of 3. The first to win 2 matches in a round moves on to the next round. Losers Finals and Grand Finals are an exception to this rule, being a best 3 out of 5. • Each player will have 3 stocks per match (if a player pauses the game mid-match, they will have to self-destruct one stock). • Each match will have a 7:00 time limit. Sportsmanship • Make sure to have good sportsmanship before, during, and after a match. Showing bad sportsmanship will end up ruining not only your experience, but others' experience too. • It’s ok to be salty or upset, but raging will not be tolerated. If you are caught raging (Controller Spike, Loud Screaming, Insulting/Threatening Other Players, Damage of Club EMU property, etc.) you will be automatically banned from the tournament, no exceptions.
