A one-hour meetup exploring food, inspiration, and creativity hosted by the Museum of Food and Culture. In April, we dive into the theme of FOOD + NOSTALGIA. Food + NostalgiaFood is both survival and enrichment. Humans design their meals to fulfill not only nutritional needs but also cultural, spiritual, and aesthetic requirements. As dishes are created and passed down among people, they become recipes. How long does bread need to rest before baking? How did you brighten the flavor of that salad? How did you make that beautiful eating experience for me? Recipes are proof of our experimentation with food, but also they are materials that hold our memories. A simmering soup packed with comfort for rainy days, fresh bread your family splits at the dinner table, your signature summertime drink. These foods and drinks contain moments and rituals that connect us to our community, culture, and future. At our first CrafTEA event, we are thinking about food and nostalgia. Taking inspiration from your travels, family, and cooking mishaps, our director Rachel will guide you through creating an extraordinary memento for yourself or a present for a friend or family member. Our event offers time to reflect on and illustrate a favorite recipe or dish. And prior art experience is not required. Come sip tea and create something new!
