If you cannot keep a pet you have adopted, please first contact the person, or rescue group you adopted from to ask if they can help re-home the pet. If they do not have a foster home available at that moment, offer to keep the pet while they assist in re-homing, or until they find a foster home. Often keeping the pet temporarily while they network the animal on their rescue websites is a big help. The majority of animal rescue groups will take back an animal they adopted out, even if it's been awhile.
