Brooklyn Man Dies In Rockland County Crash

CLARKSTOWN, NY — A Brooklyn man driving a car with South Carolina plates died Friday in a single-car crash on the Palisades Parkway, New York State police said. Troopers were called out at about 2 a.m. to the southbound side of the parkway near exit 7. They found members of the Nanuet Fire Department extricating a man from the driver's seat of a red 2002 Chevrolet Silverado, which had hit a tree off the road to the west. The driver, later identified as Gustavo Merino-Moreno, 30, was removed from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the vehicle before the 2 a.m. crash to contact Senior Investigator Carmen Goffredo or Investigator Eric Haydt.
