STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — Two people in Stafford County reported extortion attempts on Thursday, according to the sheriff's office. Police said both victims sent nude photos of themselves before the extortion. The first extortion was reported around 7 a.m. on Thursday. The second victim, who had no connection to the first, reported their extortion around 8:30 p.m. In both instances, the victims said they met a woman on social media. The first victim met a woman on Facebook, while the second met a woman on Instagram. The victims initially exchanged messages through the initial websites before moving their conversations to Snapchat. On Snapchat, both men sent nude photos to the women they met. A woman demanded $600 from the first victim, or she would share the photos with his friends and family. The suspect in the second extortion demanded $500 and made a similar threat. Authorities did not say whether the victims sent money. "As a reminder, don't be fooled into sending nude photos over social media platforms," the Stafford County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. Have a story idea?
