WHEATON, IL — Cosley Zoo has planned a number of spring activities that will get kids and their families outside to enjoy the warmer weather as they interact with zoo animals and learn techniques to preserve the planet. The activities include a lesson in junior animal training, a stream cleanup event, a Party for the Planet and more. April 9: Backyard Birders Learn how to identify birds, make a bird feeder and draw birds into your yard at this event, geared for ages four and older. Cost is $8 per person. Register for Backyard Birders by April 2. April 15: Junior Animal Trainer Kids aged eight through 11 years old can work with zookeepers and play hands-on games to learn the ins and outs of animal training. The cost is $30 per person. April 24 and May 15: Family Enrichment Workshop Families can attend this event to learn about enrichment techniques and to observe animal enrichment among zoo animals. The deadline is April 20 to register for the Family Enrichment Workshop in April and May 11 to register for the Family Enrichment Workshop in May. Cost is $8 per person per workshop. May 7: Party for the Planet This all-ages party will give guests a chance to interact with zoo animals and learn about conservation efforts in a fun atmosphere. Attendance at the event is free with Cosley Zoo admission. May 21: Spring Into Action Stream Cleanup Participants will meet at Winfield Creek near Elliot Lake to take part in a cleanup effort to remove debris and litter from the area.
