The dean's list is a recognition of students who enrolled in six or more credits and earned a 3.5 or higher grade-point average for the semester. — Merit Page News Student from Plainfield inducted into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi Catherine Aslam of Plainfield, Illinois, was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Aslam was initiated at Elmhurst University. Aslam is among approximately 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction. Phi Kappa Phi was founded in 1897 under the leadership of undergraduate student Marcus L. Urann who had a desire to create a different kind of honor society: one that recognized excellence in all academic disciplines. Today, the Society has chapters on more than 325 campuses in the United States, its territories and the Philippines. Its mission is "To recognize and promote academic excellence in all fields of higher education and to engage the community of scholars in service to others." — Merit Page News Nolan Khounborin named to Ohio University's dean's list Ohio University Russ College of Engineering and Technology student Nolan Khounborin of Plainfield has been named to Ohio's Fall 2021 Dean's List. More than 5,000 students qualified for the fall semester 2021 Dean's List at Ohio University, including main and regional campuses. Over 40 states were represented on the Dean's List, including Arizona, Connecticut, California, Florida, Illinois, Rhode Island, Texas and Ohio. Students also represented Ireland, India, China, Oman and Switzerland. DiNaso from Plainfield, IL, a Cinema and Media Arts major, was one of nearly 1,800 students who were named to the dean's list in Fall 2021. Biola students are placed on the dean's list to honor those with a GPA of 3.6 or higher while enrolled in 12 or more credits and whose cumulative GPA is at least 3.2.
