MAX Train Red Line Weeklong Service Interruption Starts on Saturday

BEAVERTON, OR — If you're one of the 2,500 people who ride the MAX on the Red Line every day, the next week is going to be a little tougher than usual. TriMet says that you should make other plans from April 2 through April 9. As part of the agency's $215 million "A Better Red" program to reduce delays and ultimately expand the line 10 stations west, service will be shut down. Workers will be on the job around the clock to move a 200-foot section of track 500 feet north of the current Gateway Transit Center. TriMet says that the move will allow them to build a bridge over the current tracks and the multi-use path by I-205. Blue and Green Line trains will assist riders get to and from the Gateway/NE 99th Avenue Transit Stations and there will be buses taking people back and forth between Gateway and Portland International Airport. The buses will serve all Red Line stations closed for the week. Regular service will resume on April 10. When the "Better Red" project is finally done, 10 stations will have been added rom the Beaverton Transit Center to Fair Complex/Hillsboro Airport.
