Description
Annie was rescued off Facebook a few months ago and she's finally at the point where I know her well enough to be able to find her the perfect forever home! She's 4 years old, spayed, microchipped, with current shots and on HW prevention meds. She's on the smaller side (~40 lbs) and not the best representative of breed standard in looks but like most bassets, she loves people/children and she's great with cats.
Her only issue is other dogs in her home. She MUST go to a home as an only dog. She spends most of her time here with my pack trying to be the Alpha (and I already have one of those) and will snap, snarl, growl, etc... at the other dogs whether they challenge her Alpha attempt or not. She grew up with her uncle, another basset who has already been adopted, and she apparently didn't have any issue with him, but with 6 others here, she's miserable.
She is not food aggressive (although she doesn't take treats gently) and walks on a leash just fine. She's 100% housebroken and sleeps on a dog bed next to mine at night. I've only had to crate her when she won't leave the other dogs alone. She plays outside in the yard just fine with them, however. Her right eye lower lid droops and she has a scar on that side of her face because according to her previous owner she was bitten by a rattlesnake. An adoption fee and contract apply. (She is not currently located in Austin; she's in foster care in San Antonio but can be brought to the Austin area on a weekend for a meet and greet.)
