City of Portland, Maine MAINTENANCE WORKER III – STREETS & SIDEWALKS Public Works Department - Up to $2,500 Sign On Bonus Available – Schedule to start will be five 8-hour shift Monday through Friday and then may have option of four 10-hour shift. Requirements: Thorough knowledge of the functions and operating methods of a wide variety of heavy and complex construction equipment; ability to operate equipment efficiently and safely; ability to make minor repairs; good visual acuity for driving and physical strength, agility and stamina necessary to withstand exposure to adverse climatic conditions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors and members of the public; must have good customer service skills; must be able to work outside in all elements of weather; must be willing to work mandatory overtime during winter period; must possess valid Maine Class B driver’s license (may be willing to hire at lower pay grade and train applicant to get Class B license); must undergo a pre-employment medical exam and fitness assessment and pass federally mandated drug test; must have and maintain a good driving record. Offers of employment are contingent upon completion of satisfactory criminal background check. Pay range starting at $834.00/week.
