Monday nights is a jazz and vocal showcase open mic at the Can Tab Lounge in Central Sq It's not a Wally's vibe, a la Coltrane, Miles, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, etc....legendary iconic jazz greats. The focus is on mostly on swing, some soul, loungy jazz blues, some pop and pre war tunes, but not exclusively Showtunes/tunes from ALL the real books (not just Vol I.) but laying off jamming 6 choruses on the warhorses for the most part Its way more laid back than Giant Steps, Invitation, and Cherokee, by design. Not a blues jam or pop/folk/freestyle thing.
