My pet cockroaches have been overpopulating their enclosure and I need to thin out the population. Before you think, "why would anyone want a cockroach as a pet?" let me explain why these make some of the best pets, especially for a beginner. These aren't your ordinary cockroaches you dread finding in your kitchen. Yes, they range from 2-3 inches long, but they don't have wings, can't bite, and only eat fresh fruits and vegetables (no rotting or decaying food for these insects!). They are very docile and don't mind being held, though they will occasionally hiss if you pick them up. Mine have been classroom pets and kids love holding them. For care, they need a container such as a terrarium with some substrate such as coconut coir, a place to hide, and a lid (they can be escape artists - I put vaseline on the top inch or so of my tank and have never had one escape). They will eat fruits and vegetables, cat food (wet or dried), and even each other if they're really hungry. Rehoming fee of $5 each - if you get several we can work out a discounted price. Choose from male or female. If you get a male and a female you will have many more in a few months.
