ANNAPOLIS, MD — Motor sports star and Maryland resident Travis Pastrana jumped over Ego Alley in a rally car Thursday morning. He did it not once, not twice, but three times as a speed boat raced underneath him. Hundreds of spectators gathered around Downtown Annapolis to catch a glimpse of the leap. Some stood on land while others floated in rafts and kayaks nearby. Here is a closeup view of the stunt: (Story continues below post) As a former NASCAR driver and frequent X Games competitor, the 37-year-old Annapolis native is no newbie to nerve-racking stunts. Pastrana jumped over the Caesar's Palace fountain on a dirt bike in 2018, skydived without a parachute in 2007, and soared over 269 feet of water in 2009. The Annapolis jump is part of an extreme sports film taped by Hoonigan Industries. Filming shut down parts of the city and disrupted local parking throughout Thursday. The city says tax dollars did not pay for the stunt. Officials claim the videographers are reimbursing Annapolis for all the associated public safety costs. Police officers and fire personnel were on hand throughout the day to control the crowds and step into action in case of emergency. The city's full announcement is here.
