Description

A few days ago, I was patiently standing in line outside at the Bank of America ATM on El Centro. All of a sudden, I heard a big bang. When I turned around, I saw a brown van in the parking lot backing up. It smashed right into the back end of a parked car. The driver paused and looked directly at me. He knew I was watching him the entire time. To my surprise, he drove right out of the parking lot as if he didn't have a care in the world. But not before I was able to run over there and get his license plate number. There were several people standing around. One woman looked at me and said, you are an angel! Another person smiled at me and said, you are amazing! I looked over my shoulder. Were these people talking to me? The last time I got that much attention must have been hmm, that's strange, I can't remember a time. What exactly does that mean, are things getting back to normal? Did we ever reach a point where we forgot our responsibilities when faced with an ethical choice? Regardless of where you find yourself on a day to day basis, when did the ability to do the right thing become so angelic? Angels don't have human capabilities. At any rate, I was happy to help out someone I have never met before. I realized there was a reason why the driver of that van looked directly at me, as if he was daring me to own up to the situation. If anything, he was the angelic one, creating a situation that would prompt me to be proactive. He brought out the best in me. Are things getting back to normal? What exactly does that mean? Patricia Huff, Massage Therapist, South Pasadena.
